The authority in the management of WOFAD rests with the Board of Trustees (4 men and 3 women). A total of seven individuals forms the Board of Trustees and are elected by the general membership of WOFAD at the Annual General Meeting. However, the Board delegates the authority for running the day-to-day affairs of WOFAD to the Executive Director and management staff.
The Executive Director of WOFAD (female) is responsible for the overall management of WOFAD to ensure that its vision and mission is achieved. This includes reporting to the Board of Trustees. The Executive Director manages all employees of the organization and interacts with donors, members and other key stakeholders. The Program Coordinator (male) reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for the identification and overall execution of programs undertaken by WOFAD as approved by the Board of Trustees and in alignment with the overall strategic plan of WOFAD. The Finance and Administration Officer (female) also reports to the Executive Director and is primarily responsible for the timely production of accurate financial information for WOFAD. For the We Have Rights Too! Project specifically,, a District Coordinator (female) was hired to oversee implementation of the project’s SRHR activities.
WOFAD has a total of 45 volunteers, 36 women and 9 men. These volunteers are based in Thyolo District (30), Chirimba in Blantyre District (12) and Kunthembwe in Blantyre District (5). The volunteers are engaged in various activities, including the provision of Home Based Care for WLHIV (HBC), serving as caregivers for Community Based Child Care Centers (CBCCs), Permaculture and herbal medicine initiatives and partaking in the weekly Group Therapy Program. The majority of volunteers comprise of people living and affected with HIV and AIDS, many of whom have been with WOFAD since it began in 2005.
Currently, WOFAD has 350 registered members (330 women and 20 men).
