- Piggery Pass-on Program
WOFAD has established a Piggery Pass-on Program for women in order to empower them economically. Business management trainings to women have also been provided through in the Piggery Pass-on Program. The program began with providing 45 women piglets. To date, a total of 147 women have been provided with piglets, passed on from the original 45. WOFAD continually receives reports from the women as they pass on their piglets. At the main piggery by the WOFAD office, there are 10 pigs.
- Food Drier Initiative
At WOFAD, a food drier was donated to the organization in 2012 to dry fruits for selling in the market. At the moment, WOFAD mainly uses the drier to produce dried mangoes.
- Sugar Cane Juice Processing Machine
WOFAD recently received a sugar cane juice processing machine from the One Village One Product (OVOP) program. We are currently working on securing a venue to sell the juice and developing a business strategy for this initiative.
- Village Savings and Loans (VSL)
A total of 20 women are involved in this program. The women all contribute to the fund and are able to take out loans at an agreed upon interest rate. The small loans are intended to assist individuals with various needs and setting up small scale businesses. At the end of the year, the women divide the contributions and accumulated interest.
